Nick Bedford, Chairman
Nick served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ActiveState, until its acquisition by Sophos Plc. He also held senior positions at UBS Warburg, including the Frankfurt-based role as Head of German Equities. In this position he oversaw all sales and sales trading of equity products, and was responsible for the merger of UBS Germany’s equity business with SBC Warburg. Prior to this he was with UBS’ Securities division in Zurich, Tokyo, and London.
Nick holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from King’s College, London University.
Amos Michelson
Amos was the CEO of Creo Inc. from 1995 to 2005. He joined Creo in 1991 and, prior to his appointment as CEO, served in senior positions including Vice President Business Strategy, Managing Director, and Chairman of the Board. Before joining Creo, Amos was CEO of Opal, Inc., a semi-conductor equipment company, and COO of Optrotech Ltd., a developer and manufacturer of optical and imaging systems for the electronics industry.
Amos is a past member of the British Columbia Premier’s Technology Council. In 1999, together with Dan Gelbart (co-founder of Creo Inc.), he was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year®, and in 2005 was recognized as the British Columbia Technology Industry Association’s “Person of the Year” for his contribution to the technology industry of British Columbia.
Amos holds an MBA from the Stanford Business School and a BSEE from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
Andy Wright
Andy co-founded and was the CTO of Datum Telegraphic Inc., a company specializing in signal processing solutions for third generation wireless systems. Upon the company’s acquisition by PMC-Sierra, Andy became Director of Wireless and Signal Processing Product Research and IPR management, where his attention was focused on sustaining wireless technology development, and management of the intellectual property and patent program.
Currently, Andy is a director of Actenum, Zymeworks Inc., and Pharos Capital.
Andy holds a Ph.D. in Microwave Engineering, has published numerous research papers, and has been awarded more than 30 patents.
Paul Maurer, Chief Executive Officer
With over 20 years of management experience, Paul has a consistent track record leading successful businesses characterized by high growth and rapid organizational change.
As President of CogentWork Consulting Corporation, Paul led successful growth initiatives for many clients with a creative mix of high impact sales and marketing strategies. As VP Sales and Services at ActiveState Corporation, Paul developed the sales and operational infrastructure that increased the company’s revenue fivefold in less than two years, ultimately leading to its successful acquisition by Sophos Plc in September 2003.
Prior to shifting his focus to early-stage organizations, Paul spent fourteen years at Oracle Corporation, most recently as Vice President, Western Canada. From 1987 to 2001, Paul held management positions of increasing scope and responsibility in Oracle’s high-growth sales and professional services divisions. Before joining Oracle, Paul worked in sales, consulting, and product development at I.P. Sharp Associates, a global application service provider acquired by Reuters in 1988.
Paul holds an MBA from the University of British Columbia and a BA in Economics and French Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Morten Irgens, President and Chief Technical Officer
Morten has 20 years of experience in successfully transferring software-based innovations from academia to industry. He is one of the founders of Actenum, and his background includes roles as the founder and President of Girba Technologies Inc., as a Research Scientist with various technology centers in Europe, and as an Assistant Professor at Portland State University.
Morten has served in an editorial capacity on scientific journals and magazines and is past Chairman of the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Society.
Morten holds a PhD in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University and a Cand. Scient. in Informatics from the University of Oslo.
