New release of Rig Activity Scheduler improves management of complex drilling operations

Vancouver BC, 15-Oct-07

Actenum Corporation today announced the upcoming release of RAS 2.0, its Rig Activity Scheduler application for the energy industry. RAS 2.0 incorporates several new features that reflect key aspects of complex oil and gas drilling operations, and with improved capabilities for management of rig schedules, represents a major product enhancement.

Oil and gas producers use the automated, interactive scheduling capability built into Actenum RAS to optimize the use of drilling and workover rigs. With the schedule of rig and well assignments linked to user-defined key performance metrics—such as production output and completions—RAS makes it easy to determine the impact of scheduling decisions in real time. And as operating conditions change, and revisions are needed, schedulers can evaluate multiple scenarios in RAS, before selecting an appropriate course of action.

New features in RAS 2.0 include:

  • Scheduling to meet user-defined production targets;
  • Scheduling of activities according to priority or timing sequences;
  • Support for special equipment availability;
  • Support for rig travel computations based on multiple factors (including speed, road network, movement restrictions);
  • Support for multiple product grades in production target computations;
  • A web-based deployment and schedule publishing facility.

Actenum RAS 2.0 is scheduled for release in December 2007.

“The new capabilities that we’re building into Actenum RAS 2.0 provide many more options for producers to schedule rig activities according to their specific operating model.” said Morten Irgens, Actenum’s Chief Technical Officer. “We’re taking the strengths of the existing RAS application a major step further with release 2.0.”
