Actenum Corporation announces today the successful completion of the customization and deployment of Actenum RAS (Rig Activity Scheduler) for Saudi Aramco, the world’s #1 oil producer.

The RAS application, now in production use in Saudi Aramco’s Drilling Department, enables schedulers to optimize the utilization of one of the world’s largest rig fleets. Linking an interactive scheduling capability with the automatic generation of rig/well assignments for any given period, RAS allows Saudi Aramco schedulers to determine the impact of their decisions on user-defined key performance indicators—such as production output and transportation cost—in real time. As operating conditions change, and schedules must be updated, RAS also allows the evaluation of various scenarios before selection of an appropriate approach.

“Ensuring that the right rig is in the right place at the right time, while handling daily schedule updates and operational changes, is key to meeting our production targets,” said W.L. (Lashar) Lavenue, Drilling Division Head, Saudi Aramco. “Early experience with Actenum RAS shows significant improvements in scheduling our rigs in a complex drilling environment, and we expect to see continued benefits in the coming months.”

“Actenum’s team completed this important deployment project on time and within budget.” said Actenum’s Chief Technical Officer, Morten Irgens. “The RAS application’s flexible architecture enabled us to rapidly model Saudi Aramco’s existing workflow and operational processes, and ensure that up-to-date schedule information is always available to the right decision makers.”

Paul Maurer, Actenum’s CEO, added “We are very proud of our partnership with Saudi Aramco, and are confident that the use of RAS will lead to further efficiencies in their operations.”
