Actenum and CAE Professional Services to develop advanced decision-making software
Vancouver BC, 15-Aug-07
Actenum Corporation and CAE Professional Services have entered into an agreement to develop and market advanced software solutions that will enhance decision-making capabilities for users in Command and Control, and Course Of Action analysis environments. The new solutions will be designed for organizations in the Public Safety and Security, and Defense markets.
Traditionally, computer-automated support for making important decisions about the effective deployment of resources—such as emergency service vehicles and personnel—has been very limited. As well, devising Courses Of Action in emergency planning or military situations, and analyzing them to ensure that they are feasible, complete, compliant with policies, and achievable, have, up to now, been primarily manual tasks. The result has been a time-consuming process, sometimes with compromised results, which is ineffective in rapidly changing situations.
Using Actenum’s proprietary optimization and resource allocation software, together with CAE’s technologies for data integration and mission planning, the collaborative effort will develop end-user tools that streamline decision-making, increase efficiency, and enable rapid, reliable response as situational changes occur. Users will be able to determine the likely consequences of their resource deployment decisions, and model multiple scenarios to determine the best course of action for a given situation.
“Making reliable decisions quickly in dynamic, complex situations, such as a major emergency, is a difficult and stressful job.” said Actenum’s CEO, Paul Maurer. “Our cooperative work with CAE Professional Services will yield sophisticated software tools that will improving decision-making abilities, and enable users to focus on their strategic and tactical goals.”
