Actenum Corporation, the leading provider of Asset Scheduling Management (ASM) software for asset-intensive industries, today announced sponsorship of the newly-released Aberdeen Group report "Collaborative Asset Maintenance Strategies." According to the report, in industries such as mining, oil & gas, and process manufacturing, strategic and proactive maintenance practices provide substantial benefits, including greater asset uptime, reliability, and availability.
Aberdeen Group’s report, published in December 2006, surveyed more than 300 companies to determine how leading organizations in asset-intensive industries view the asset maintenance challenge and what strategies they employ that set them apart from others. Michael Israel, Aberdeen Research Director and author of the study, states that "A key finding is that these leaders employ proactive maintenance strategies to bolster their traditional maintenance activities and achieve superior performance."
The report also identified the importance of careful attention to planning and scheduling of maintenance activities, and the need for close collaboration between operations and maintenance staff. Done well, optimized maintenance scheduling leads to longer production runs as well as greater asset availability and reliability.
"Aberdeen Group’s report provides quantitative evidence that bridging the gap between the support chain and the supply chain brings substantial benefits.", said Actenum’s CEO, Paul Maurer. "A solution such as Actenum MPS allows maintenance and operations managers to collaborate on scheduling decisions that take production targets and operational risk into account, and to respond effectively and in real time to the everday changes encountered in the production environment."
